Our Story

Our Story

The Tribal Research and Knowledge Centre (TRKC) is India’s emerging national nodal hub for tribal research, interdisciplinary knowledge production, and inclusive academic dialogue. Headquartered in New Delhi, TRKC is committed to dismantling mainstream epistemic hierarchies by foregrounding indigenous ways of knowing, lived realities, and traditional ecological wisdom as vital to India’s developmental discourse. Rooted in the triadic philosophy of Asmita (Identity), Astitva (Existence), and Vikas (Development), TRKC acts as a bridge between academic institutions, tribal communities, policy makers, and grassroots actors. Our mission is not merely to document or preserve tribal cultures but to institutionalize them as valid, critical, and coequal systems of knowledge, worthy of integration into education, governance, and global research. We envision a future where tribal communities are not seen as subjects of study but as co-creators of knowledge, agency, and sustainable futures.

Vision

To be a national and global leader in advancing tribal knowledge systems and fostering identity (Asmita), existence (Astitva), and development (Vikas) through community-rooted research, curriculum innovation, and transformative dialogue that redefines how tribal communities are represented and understood in the Indian context.
